PRERNA GRIHKALAYAN KENDRA


In keeping with the spirit of IASOWA , ' We Care', the GrahKayan Kendra at Thyagraj Nagar is being modeled into a centre for the upliftment of ladies and girls from the under privileged strata of society. We impart vocational training, there by empowering them through knowledge to become economically better off and financially independent and capable of providing a better future to their children and family. The Ministry of Personnel has provided us two rooms at Grah Kalyan Kendra Thyagraj Nagar to carry out our welfare activities.
Mrs. Ruchi (Anil) Swarup and Mrs. Jayashree Dubey have set up both the centres and have been involved in motivating the women and children of the nearby localities and slums.They also take care of the day to day functioning of our centre.

Computer centre

The Computer Centre at Thyagraj Nagar was inaugurated on the 16th of May 2008 by our President Mrs Jaya Chandrasekhar in the presence of Mr Neeraj Aggarwal, Project Director NIIT.

Ten Computers at our centre have been donated by TCS and six by HCL. The curriculum has been designed with the support of NIIT and they have helped us to find a suitable instructor. The certificate given to successful students by us is with NIIT's support.

Our first batch of 22 students and second batch of 15 students have completed their basic three month course. Our fresh batch of students have commenced with their classes.
Mrs Neha kumar, teaches Web- Designing to interested students and our President Mrs. Jaya C. Shekhar takes english classes with the children .

Apparel training and Designing Centre

Our Apparel Training and Designing Centre was inaugurated by our President Mrs. Jaya C.Shekhar on the 11th Feb. 2008, in the presence of Mr. Anil Bamba, Secretary General, Dr B.V.Somashekhar, Deputy Director General, Apparel Export Promotion Council; ( sponsored by Govt. of India, Ministry of Textiles) and Dr. J.D Bakshi, Joint Director ( ( (Welfare) AEPC.
We thank the AEPC for providing us ten industrial sewing machines to train our students.

We owe our special thanks to Mr R.K.Sharma, Principal A.T.D.C Okhla, for helping us in big way in getting our act together and providing an excellent faculty for the initial six months.

At our Centre we provide courses of varying durations ranging from three months to a year. Along with training our women and girls we also help them in finding suitable employment after completion of their course.
The Centre is still in its infancy, but holds big promises for the future .

Computer Centre & Apparel and Designing Centre at Tyag Raj Nagar, New Delhi.

We celebrated the Diwali with our students at both our centres with a variety program and some fun contests organized by the staff.

A work shop to make the women and girls more aware about the rising danger of breast cancer amongst women, was organized at the centre on the 25th of November. Dr. Rajika Aggarwal and Dr. Nisha educated the women and grown up girls from the weaker strata of society about a lot of issues regarding health and hygiene.
