Monthly Update 2010
 

Visit to the National Gallery of Modern Art.

IASOWA set the ball rolling with its first monthly meet of 2010, on the 20th of January, in the artistic environs of the National Gallery of Modern Art. Here Professor Rajeev Lochan (Director NGMA) familiarized the members with Modern Indian Art, through his captivating and informative lecture and slide presentation.

The meeting was conceived and arranged by Ms. Meena J.N Singh (cadre rep. Gujrat) and taken forward by the rest of the executive committee of the Association.

The generous hospitality of the Director Dr. Lochan, the co-ordinator, Ms. Sujata Parsai and the team of NGMA, made the day a memorable one for all our members. Apart from all our members interested in Art we were also fortunate to have amidst us Mr. SVS Juneja (Retd.UP Cadre).

A first- hand look at the works in the newly opened wing of the gallery coupled with the happiness of meeting friends on Basant Panchami, truly added a warm gold to what would otherwise have been yet another cold evening.

 
 

Annual Lunch

IASOWA organized its Annual Lunch on the 14th February 2010 at the 32, Prithviraj road. It was bright and sunny day and love was in the air, blooming with the spring flowers and floating with the red balloons. The fun and frolic was added up with the games of tambola and the musical numbers, dedicated to each other inspired the romance on the valentine's day.The presence of Mr & Mrs khanna enhanced the spirit of the gathering. There were lucky draws and several other prizes like- Mr Valentino, Pretty woman, Most well dressed lady, couples etc.

 
 

Introduction to Naturopathy ( 15th March 2010 )

This gathering was all about mind body and soul. The music by Mandakini Swain and her group touched the soul and rejuvenated the mind. It is well said that 'healthy body rests in a healthy mind'. After that there was a talk by Dr. Mrs Madhu Gupta Shastri about "Naturopathy as a way of cure and prevention of all ailments", followed by question and answer session with members, these information were enlightening that taking too much of ginger is not good during cough and cold , what dietary precautions a patient suffering from arthritis should take, too much of milk and protein product creates toxins in the body etc.
There was an exhibition of
Designer summer ware and natural products, which kept everybody busy.

 
 

Evening Tea

An evening was specially organised for our senior members on 31st March 2010. Many senior members were dressed up as twins, as the theme it was. With all the grace beauty and poise, our senior members of IASOWA gave us the opportunity to share their experiences and inspired us, how to live up the life full size! The cuisine was chinese and the decor was pink.
President, secretary and all the executive members were in pink attire, wow! A single colour has got so many shades. The musical band and dancing tra-la-la made the evening as beautiful as it could be.To sum up:-

If we are the flowing rivers, you are the oceans ,
If we are the flowers, you are the blossoms.
 
 

Introducton of Art of living

On 21st of April, IASOWA concluded its session with the Introduction of Art of living by
Mr. Sanjeev Kakkad.
There we experienced, how meditation can heal and calm human mind.
It offers programme for self development and stress free life that allow even the busiest of people to take maximum advantage of Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji's multidimensional teaching. Afterwards there were some laughter session with Mr. Ashok Chakradhar. He raised questions about saree with its variety from different states, which were rightfully answered by the members. Hats Off ! to the President, Secretary ,Treasurer, Jt.secretary, Web designer and all the Executive members, who with there constant hard work and dedication gave IASOWA a new dimension. Special thanks to those looking after the Social Welfare. Hope when we meet in July our efforts and zeal will be twofold.

 
 

Monsoon Meeting

IASOWA organized its monsoon meeting on the 20th July 2010 at Chinamaya Mission Auditorium, Lodhi Road. There was program of Music by the well known semi-classical singer Ms.Sukriti Sen who enthralled us with the classical music and the monsoon melodies.

There was also an Exhibition-cum-sale of tribal paintings from Madhya Pradesh and fabrics of Maheshwari and Chanderi sarees and suits and bead/zardosi purses from Bhopal.

 
 

Brochure Release

On 18th August 2010 Mrs. Ambika Soni, the Honorable Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting released the IASOWA Brochure in the Auditorium of Sanskriti School amidst IASOWA feternity. The Brochure, a mini directory of IASOWA members, contains the details of each IASOWA member. On the occasion there was also a dance drama ,'Srijankarta ' The Creator) by the renowed artist, Ms Kavita Dwibedi . The dance was about the girl child and how important is freedom to her.

 
 

Talk on Skin Care

On 22nd september 2010, a talk by professionally trained skin care and beauty reform therapist Dr Chiranjeev Chhabra a dermatologist, laser and cosmetic surgeon was held at CSOI, New Delhi. She has spear headed innovative changes in prevailing invasive and non-invasive skin care remedies. She is pioneer in her field over a decade. According to her, she is the person, "who can make a lady look fifteen years younger".

Dr Chhabra covered a wide range of common problems too like-skin allergies, infections, pigmentation, freckles, acne-scars, burn scars, moles, warts, botox, age management, weight management and life style management.

Also there was an exhibition-cum-sale of sarees, salwar suit dress materials in silk, cotton, chiffon, georgette etc. The Exhibitor has many renowned shops in Benaras.

 
 

Amala Bharatam Campaign

Amma (Mata Amritandamayi Devi) launched the Campaign , Amala Bharatam Campaign , Clean India , Beautiful India on her 57th birthday, 27th Sep 2010. The campaign is aimed at cleaning India's public places and national highways. As a part of its environmental cleaning efforts, Amma (Mata Amritandamayi Devi) is ready to start work immediately on constructing toilets and installing trash cans in Government Schools.

 

 

 

Annual Dinner

IASOWA organized its Annual Dinner on the 29th October 2010 at the 32, Prithviraj Road. This time we had chosen Gujarat as our theme event. So there was Gujarati cuisine, Garbha , Dandiya dances, etc There were other delicacies to pamper our taste buds and variety of music programmes too. And of course DJ, to pep up the milieu!.

 
 

Fun at Lodhi Gardens

The picnic on 25th November 2010 was greatly enjoyed by one and all at the Lodhi Gardens
which was bursting with energetic lush greens. The birds and the bees provided the background symphony. We all had great fun.

 
 

Culinary Workshop

A Culinary Workshop was held on 15th December 2010 at Sikkim House lawns to teach us , five types of thupkas/soups and three types of Dimsums Momos by Mr. A. Ghimiray the famous North East Indian Chef.
He is trained in oriental cuisines. He has been creating avant-garde far-eastern delights for VVIP's and also has been called to Rashtrapati Bhavan to serve foreign dignitaries too.
Workshop was followed by tasting session and high tea.
