Winter Carnival

IASOWA organized its Annual Winter Carnival on the 22nd January 2011 at the Palika Services Officers' Institute, Chanakya Puri, New Delhi. Our stalls grew not just in numbers but in variety as well.
The Carnival was inaugurated by Ms. Salma Ansari, who was gracious enough to take time out from her busy schedule to be with us and visited each and every stall.

Highlights of the Winter Carnival were food court, shopping bonanza mini workshops, flower arrangement competition and painting competition, exciting events for children including games, quiz, tarots reading, live band and cultural programmes.
 
 

Annual Lunch

IASOWA organized its Annual Lunch on the 13th February 2011 at the 32, Prithviraj road. The sun was showering a new warmth, there was fragrance in the air. We all celebrated the changing seasons in the spirit of Universal Love, Zest and Romance for life. The theme of the event was 1970's IN RETRO BOLLYWOOD STYLE. The fun was added up with the games and the musical numbers of 1970'
 
 

Workshop on Sarees

On 16th March, at Bharti Cresent , Vasant Kunj Mall, this was a meeting with a difference, a close encounter with corporate's, which gave us a lesson on different forms of sarees, of different states. A classroom with power point presentation regarding the making of the sarees , variety of designs, its history, evolution accordingly with culture. Ms Ritu Christi's lecture on sarees added our kitty of knowledge on sarees. A model showcased different styles of tying sarees both modern and ethnic, followed by lucky draw. We got accustomed with their parallel projects like schools in remote areas for the needy. Finally the tea was served with delectable dishes.

 

 

Evening Tea

An evening was specially organized for our senior members on 30th March. Many members were dressed up in flowery print, as the theme it was.

Mr Anil Swarup an I.A.S officer of 81 batch took time from his busy scheduled to pay his respect by singing and playing old melodies on his guitar which cheered the hearts of our more experienced members.

 
 

Workshop with Silk Mark

The last event of IASOWA was the session held on April 19th at India International Centre. Last but not least our president Ms. Jaya. C. Shekhar along with committee members treated the IASOWA gathering with Silk Mark. Yes! Enlightening workshop with Silk Mark Organization created awareness about silk, followed by quiz competition. The winners were thrilled with delicate prizes. This was not enough, some more jewels were in store for us.

Ms. Penaz Masani the famous Ghazal singer tickled our soul with rainbow of ghazals.
She even sang all famous numbers of different states which enthralled the audience.

 
 

Teej Celebration

We welcomed our new President Ms. Amal Seth along with the first monsoon showers. Teej festival was celebrated on 27th July by our IASOWA members with enthusiasm and great zeal. There was chudiwali, mehndiwali, ghevar and other tradition teej delicacies. Ladies were dressed in different shades of green to spread the magic of nature.

There was a program of Music by Ms. Kanak Chaturvedi who enthralled us with the monsoon melodies.

An Exhibition-cum-sale of lovely designer sarees was also organized on the occasion.

 
     
 

Introduction to Feng Shui

There was talk on Feng Shui by the renowned Feng shui Master, Mr Sharad Goyal, on 24th Aug at India Habitat Centre.He is qualified Master of Consultation Course from Malaysia and also Reiki Master, Vastu and Crystal energy expert.

Mr Goyal explained as to how, energy wields through our lives, homes and in workplaces and how Feng Shui can cure and prevent many problems of our day to day lives. His talk was useful and enlightening.

 
 

Viewing Movie

On 27th September 2011 IASOWA members viewed Hindi movie-------at Siri Fort Auditorium.
 

Diwali Dinner

On 22th October 2011, Annual Dinner of IASOWA was hosted at 32, Prithiviraj Road. It was an evening with fun, music, excitement and gourmet food.
 

Cooking Demos

On 16th November 2011, there was Cooking Demo by Ms Sarita Lal and Ms Vandana Srivastava both sisters and distinguish in their field which is cooking. They cook Italian, Latin American, Continental, Chinese, Mexican. They have organised several cooking workshops even on Indian Television besides writing cookery books too. They taught us some of the Japaneese Italian and American dishes.
